This magnificent castle was built around 1200, and big areas were cleared of the trees for human settlements. The castle can be visited on prior arrangement. Please call Mr. Danzer at 07218/440.
A living Museum - The former Smithy at Hammergraben

The castle is an outstanding witness to the cultivation of the surrounding lands. Around 200 the ancient forests were cut down, making room for little towns like Piber-Schlag, Alten-Schlag and Thurner-Schlag.
