Altlichtenwarth,
first mentioned in 1232, is embedded in the gently rolling hills of the Weinviertel. It is close to the borders of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
On top of the Hutsaulberg hill (274 m above sea level), you will find a war memorial and a vantage tower. At the foot of the hill is a war cemetery with the tombs of 59 soldiers.
Worth visiting are the Gothic frescoes (1310) in the Romanesque parish church.
Altlichtenwarth is famous for its long tradition of wine-growing. Why not enjoy a glass of good wine at one of the local wine cellars.
