Anras is steeped in history!

Episcopal Brixen court. Open the door to the cultural jewel of the Anras castle! From 1200 to 1809 the castle was a summer residence of the Brixen bishops. In 1236 Emperor Friedrich II authorized the bishop of Brixen who gained full jurisdiction for the entire property, from Anras and Obertilliach to the Lienzer Klause are. In 1803 the Anras court was closed. In 1991 the castle was purchased by the Messerschmitt foundation and restored under advice of the Federal Monument Office. The castle is a perfect example of the preservation of historic buildings and monuments! The Tirolean authorities installed a court museum with a jail exhibition dating back to 1499.

Another historical monument is the ancient Granary dating back to the 16th century. Today the building that belongs to Anras Castle hosts a farmer´s shop selling fresh farm products, homemade delights, handmade nature products, souvenirs, snacks and beverages.

This picturesque little village is located on a sunny plateau of the Hochpustertal valley at an altitude of 1,261 m above sea level. Get away from the daily grind and restore new energies from the beginning of your stay! Experience absolutely different holidays in perfect tune with nature.
