Where the Loisach has its source
Due to a huge rock slide some 4000 years ago, the Loisach mountain brook has more than just one source, all of them in the surroundings of Biberwier. A mystic place deeply rooted in history. Traces of algae give the water a bright color – Kneipp treatments in the refreshing brook are a real pleasure to body and mind, creating unique memories of your holiday in Biberwier. Easy to intermediate hiking trails lead along the picture-book Alpine lakeshores of Mittersee and Weißensee, ideal also for taking a quick swim. Tirol's fastest summer toboggan run (1.5 km) can be found at panoramic Marienberg, in operation from June through October. In Biberwier silver mining has a long tradition with its heyday between the 15th and late 19th century. The ancient Silberleithe tunnel can still be admired. Among the highlights ranks the 5 to 7 kilometer long Miners Hiking Trail on the traces of underground mining.
