The small borough of Grünbach with its nine hamlets is beautifully set amid hills and makes for great hiking, cycling and swimming. Its gentle undulating landscape pleases the eye and soothes the soul. The hilltop forests are recreational areas and serve as water catchments for the area. A worthwhile sight is St. Michael mountain church from where you enjoy sweeping views of the scenic Mühlviertel.

The new Planet Trail “From the Sun to Pluto” takes you from Freistadt through Grünbacher to Sandl.
