But the 133 km of slopes at the Mayrhofen ski resort also offer plenty of routes for beginners. The Ahorn mountain is known for true pleasures and as a top address for beginners and families. Romance lovers appreciate the White Lounge at Ahorn – there is an Igul village incl. hotel and bar at 2000 meters above sea level. The Mayrhofen ski resort can be easily reached from Hippach with the Horbergbahn lifts.
Penken is also a hotspot for snowboarders and freerides as the Vans Penken Park offers six areas for different ability levels. In 2010, the park was awarded as the best snow park in Europe. The diverse ski resort also offers plenty of options to spend time in the white landscape off the slopes, such as tobogganing at Tristenbachalm pasture or the seven-kilometre-long and floodlit natural tobogganing track at Gerlosstein. Furthermore, it is possible to enjoy the magnificent surroundings on winter hiking tours and on one of the four cross-country skiing tracks in Schwendau.
