Holidays Kössen/Schwendt

Holiday in the valley and up in the air

The idyllic village of Schwendt is located at the foothills of the Kaisergebirge mountains, in the Kaiserwinkel region. The holiday village with a lot of farms has kept its traditional charm. In summer, it attracts visitors due to the many hiking possibilities available in the beautiful Kaisergebirge mountains. If you are looking for some peace and quiet in winter, then Schwendt is the perfect winter holiday destination for the entire family.
Kössen is a lot more touristic and vibrant. The largest village in the Kaiserwinkel region is located in a wide basin. Skiing, hiking, playing golf and paragliding – Kössen has a great offer for active holidays. There are also plenty of possibilities to take a rest, such as the historic “Gasthof Erzherzog Rainer” with its rococo facade.

Hiking in the majestic Kaisergebirge Mountains

A total of 200 kilometers of well sign-posted hiking paths invite guests to discover the beautiful nature in the surroundings of Kössen and Schwendt during your summer holidays. There are numerous attractive routes between the Zahmer and Wilder Kaiser mountains. Stop at one of the traditional huts and enjoy regional delights – this makes your excursion to the woods and across colourful meadows simply perfect.
Lifts take families with small children to the Kitzbühler Alps – therefore, they can also enjoy the panorama, the great views into the valley and the sparkling water of lake Walchsee. Two summer tobogganing tracks ensure that you can easily and quickly get back into the valley. If you want to enjoy the way back into the valley from a bird’s-eye view, then paragliding is the right option. In summer, the sky is full of little coloured dots as the thermal conditions are perfect for this kind of sport.

Winter Holidays in the Kaiserwinkel region

In Kössen as well as off the hustle and bustle of large ski resorts, such as in Schwendt, guests can enjoy long winter walks, tobogganing rides and cross-country skiing. The perfectly groomed cross-country skiing network boasts a total of 240 km of tracks. Ice-skating is possible on the natural ice skating rink at Lake Walchsee. Night owls can enjoy romantic moments as ice-skating is also possible at moonlight.
The regional ski resorts, the Kössen lifts and the Zahmer Kaiser lifts, provide snow guarantee and offer perfectly groomed slopes for unlimited pleasures in snow – with the entire family or with friends. Could you imagine anything better than a stop-over at a traditional hut in the Kaiserwinkel region at lunchtime and some Kaiserschmarren?
