Ramsau is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Styria, the Dachstein, surrounded by a sunny plateau. Due to the exceptionally clean air and the gentle climate, the quiet village offering a splendid panorama of the Dachstein massif was officially assigned climatic health resort in 2004. Ramsau offers not only a great climate but it is also the perfect starting point for various leisure time activities in the splendid nature of Styria. In winter, the family-friendly skiing area in Ramsau am Dachstein along with the unique view of the snow-covered mountains await you with its perfectly groomed slopes. In summer, the region turns into a hikers’ paradise for families and sports fans with numerous offers for activities in the nature.
Unique and sunny skiing pleasures
The Ramsau am Dachstein skiing area describes itself as “the most sunny slope of Austria” – and rightly so. The naturally formed high plateau, which is exposed to sunshine all day, is perfectly located for diverse skiing pleasures on the sunny and wide slopes. The skiing area is part of the Ski amadé area and the unique 4-mountain interconnected skiing area. Discover nine different skiing mountains with only one ticket – a unique experience. There are 16 lifts on the Ramsau high plateau alone. Due to the great variety of children’s lifts, such as a magic carpet, and many slopes which are perfectly suited for children, the skiing area in Styria is particularly child-friendly. Enjoy regional culinary delights in the many traditional huts and splendid views from sunny terraces. Ramsau is also a paradise for cross-country skiers offering 220 km of perfectly traced tracks – enjoy winter to the fullest. Another highlight is the natural toboggan track through snow-covered woods – floodlight facilities also provide tobogganing fun at night.
Undisputed highlights among the via ferrata tours: Anna and Johann via ferrata, Dachstein Schulter via ferrata and an additional super via ferrata leading up to the summit cross of the Dachstein peak – one of the Alps' longest vertical drops.
For children and novice climbers the Kali and Kala via ferrata tours offer perfect conditions for less experienced sportsmen.
Mighty panoramic views await you on the Skywalk, Johann and Irg via ferratas suitable for skilled climbers in a good physical shape.
The entire Dachstein massif makes a real heaven for Alpine climbers and free-climbers thanks to its superb limestone rocks. For example, the Dachstein south wall is one of the classic spots.
