Nestled between Upper Austria, Salzburg and Styria, the pristine Salzkammergut offers beautiful lakes and mountains.

The Salzkammergut boasts a total of 76 lakes, the most popular being Attersee, Mondsee, Traunsee, Wolfgangsee, Hallstätter See and Altausseer See. With 4,150 kilometers of designated hiking trails, the Salzkammergut provides many outstanding opportunities for both short hikes and extended backpacking trips.

In the winter the Salzkammergut’s ten holiday regions offer great skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and other fun outdoor activities. The Salzkammergut also offers countless modern ski areas, including the largest family ski area (Dachstein-West: 140 km of slopes), Upper Austria’s longest ski slope (Obertraun-Dachstein-Krippenstein: 11 km of slopes) and Tauplitz (40 km of slopes). The Salzkammergut is known for its reliable snow conditions and expansive freeride terrain.

The Freesports-Arena Krippenstein boasts an incredible 11-kilometer long and ungroomed slope for exhilarating skiing and riding fun.

The Salzkammergut offers a wide range of accommodation options, including everything from hotels of all categories to guesthouses, farms, apartments and inns.
