Strassen and the hamlet of Tassenbach are located at an elevation of 1089 m, just about 3 km from the Thurntaler ski area. This family-friendly resort has guaranteed snow and offers 45 km of slopes.
Other activites include backcountry skiing, horse-drawn carriage rides, and cross-country skiing on 120 km of skate and classic style trails.
