Just below the headwaters of the Sulzbach river, the municipality Sulz im Weinviertel lies at an altitude of about 200m. The oldest, official mentioning dates back to the year 1125, at that time still called "Sulze", meaning swampy lands.
The market municipality Sulz comprises 4 villages, namely Obersulz, Niedersulz, Erdpreß and Nexing. On an area of 3.160 km², 1.150 inhabitants have been counted in the year 1990.
