Viticultural municipality at the southern border of the Dunkelsteiner woods

Against the north and the west, the sunny southern hill parts of the so-called "Bay of Wölbing" which go steep down into the Fladnitztal valley, are being protected by the densely wooded elevations of the Dunkelsteiner woods. This leads to a sunny and warm climate with yet only little rain.

The soil (primary rocks), together with the favourable climate conditions, make the riping of an especially spicy "Grüner Veltliner" wine possible, served all year long in charming Heurigen taverns with hearty snacks.

These days, the market municipality Wölbling with its charming mixture of woods and wine on its southern hill parts is a popular excursion target, especially for people from the close St. Pölten. The various Heurigen of the municipality, the hiking paths into the Dunkelsteiner woods, the leisure institutions but also the soldier´s graveyard for the "Quarter above the Vienna woods", combined with true hospitality of the locals are wort the visit to the southmost end point of the "wine street at the Danube".
