"The past out-glistens anything that could be said about it."
(Poet Eduard Mörike about the Bregenzerwald scenery)
The Bregenzerwache valley has an exceptionally beautiful scenery, ranging from the soft foothills of the alps to the rocks of the high mountains. The region is especially popular among cross-country skiers.
320 kilometers of well-groomed cross-country skiing tracks, leading across snow-covered meadows, sunny high plateaus, along softly murmuring mountain brooks and through white, wintry forests.
Do you love unspoilt nature and genuine tradition, authentic rural life far from artificial wellness centers? If so, the Bregenzerwald region is the right choice.
Unlimited cross-country fun
The Bregenzerwald region is an attractive cross-country skiing area due to its great variety and stunningly beautiful scenery.
There are three passages across the border leading to the Bavarian Allgäu region: in Sulzberg, Hittisau/Riefensberg/Hochhäderich, and Hittisau/Balderschwang. Cross-country skiing tracks located as high as 1000-1600 meters above sea level can be found in Damüls, Hittisau/Riefensberg/Hochhäderich, Schwarzenberg/Bödele, Schröcken, and in Warth. Great cross-country skiing in the high mountains!
