At the church Schinderbach river flows out of this spectacular gorge before flowing into Pigerbach river. To the right of the church there is a conglomerate wall into which living quarters were hewn. Then the gorge becomes more narrow. To the left of the actual path there is a small trail leading to a waterfall. Later on the footpath becomes a bit more difficult and steeper. It circumvents the first bottleneck before meeting the spectacular river again.
Parking is possible behind St. John´s church and/or Gasthof Sonne in Imst. Follow the signs.
Walking time: 2-3 hours.
Kronburg Gorge
skip
Kronburg gorge is largely unknown - and this is not very likely to change. Tourists who drive to Kronburg castle by car usually don´t even notice the deep gorge they have to cross on their way. Alas, as it is one of Tirol´s most beautiful ones! A good head for heights and sturdy boots are required.
Getting there: from Schönwies toward Kronburg to the bridge crossing the gorge. Just before the parking lot.
Salvesen river runs south of Heiterwand, separating the Tirolean Inntal valley from the estuary of river Lech. Unfortunately this gorge is not accessible. From dizzying heights of Hoher Steg vista platform you can look down into the spectacular gorge.
Getting there: from Imst to Tarrenz. Turn left into Salvesental and drive on to the end of the road. Walk to the dam and follow the left shores of the river to Hoher Steg viewpoint.
Walking time: 1-2 hours.
