Rosengartenschlucht (closed in winter)

Located only a few minutes from the town center, there is a beautiful biotope offering many recreational highlights!

Schinderbach river meanders some 1.5 km from the Blue Grotto down to Johnneskirche church, crossing the most scenic rock faces and Imst's lower mountain ranges. The difference in altitude is about 200 meters.

Since the last Ice Age the water from melting glaciers of the Hinterer Galtberg area, the Larsenngrat drains, the Hinteres Alpjoch and Mannkopf peaks have wound their way to the nearest outlet, the crystal clear Pigerbach brook set amid Gurgltal valley. Over the centuries Schinderbach river has formed the Rosengarten gorge which consists of dolomite and Wetterstein limestone.
