The market municipality Mailberg is a well-known wine growing village, embedded in a valley basin and surrounded by vineyards. Excellent wines, especially the "Grüne Veltliner" grape variety, grow here showing a lot of individual character. The annual cellar lane celebration in June offers you the possibility to get to know more about the wine. The 3 romantic cellar lanes with their well-tended press houses and cellars accommodate some of the typical regional wines and are open for tastings and shopping possibilities. Mailberg has already been officially mentioned in 1055. The ancient rooms of the castle provide for a guest house and its beautiful armour hall a splendid occasion for celebration and festivals (also private ones). The Buchberg hill, densely wooded, offers you the possibility for a relaxing stroll far from mass tourism and noise. Worth seeing are the castle, the Kundigunden church (15th century) including the graveyard and a magnificent panoramic view over the medieval municipality Mailberg.
