Rohrau is located only 40 km away from Vienna, between Bruck/Leitha and Hainburg/Donau; back in 1240 "Rorawe" (the old name of Rohrau) was mentioned as a small village. Part of Rohrau are the villages Pachfurth, Gerhaus and Hollern. In Rohrau you can visit the birthplace of the world-famous composers Joseph and Michael Haydn. The birth house at the main street is to be visited all year long (except Monday).
From April to October you can come to the Baroque Harrach Castle to see Austria´s biggest private collection of oil paintings (open daily except Mondays).
Since the year 1976, a partnership exists between Rohrau/Lower Austria and Gärtringen-Rohrau in Württemberg (Germany).
