Schwarzenau makes the strategy of the old settlers comprehensible,
who liked to settle exactly here, in the Waldviertel, in basins,
to escape the strong winds.
Schwarzenau is such a "cuddle-basin" which you can´t escape.
The main street as well as the Franz Josef railway leads through it.
Excuses the village can´t be found are not valid either.
Seen from a traffic point of view, the market municipality with 1737 inhabitants
- between Horn and Gmünd, but also between Waidhofen/Thaya and Zwettl -
can be seen as the centre of the Waldviertel.
