Town Hall

The town hall was built in 1575, whereas the front side is "only" 150 years old. The gate, made of wood and copper, is especially attractive.
Koloman

In the center of the Rathausplatz square you can see the Kolomannbrunnen fountain with a statue of St. Koloman, which was a gift of the abbey for the town.
The old bakery

This is just one of the many architectural gems you find in Melk. The bay windows and the 400 year old wooden roof are really great!
Sterngasse lane

This is the oldest lane of Melk, and it was once the main road!! You can see picturesque buildings with frescoes and inner courtyards, from where you have a stunning view of the abbey.

When you visit Melk you should really go to the Haus am Stein, which was built in the 15th century!!
In the picture you also see the old grapevine that is protected by law.

This house towers high above on a rock; it was used as a studio by the famous painter Walter Prinzl.

The old post office

The old post office, which was built in 1792, is one of the most beautiful buildings you can see in Melk. It has a really picturesque courtyard that you have to see!
