"Weitra, the oldest Brewery town of Austria"
warmly welcomes you!
In 1321, Friedrich the Beautiful gave the people the right to brew. The citizens of this town made full use of this privilege, and in its brewing heyday (1645) there were 33 middle-class breweries, furthermore a town brewery and an upper-class brewery.
Today, one of the smallest inn-breweries can be found in the Brewery Hotel Weitra, and in front of the city´s gates the "beer workshop" of Weitra.
