Welcome to Hainburg an der Donau

Hainburg on the Danube is situated in the very east of Lower Austria. Its location is particularly attractive; south of the Danube and partly surrounded by rolling hills, natural landmarks of the region (Braunsberg hill - 344 m; Hexenberg hill - 476 m). Visit the impressive ruin on top of the Schloßberg hill (291 m), a testimony to the cultural history of this region underlining Hainburg's reputation as a border town.

The "gate of Hainburg" assured important connections between the West and the East, being of great political and cultural influence.

The municipality of Hainburg covers an area of 25.04 km2 at an altitude of 165m; there are around 1,523 houses and according to the census of 2001 5,651 people live in this town. Hainburg is the second biggest town of the district of Bruck on the Leitha.
