Icy Winter Mornings

Beneath a blue sky, hoar-frost gleams
on the grass. A little brown bird
chirp-chirps from the leafless hedge-row.
Unexpectedly, a rooster
crows. Sunday bells peal not far off.

Hooves clip-clop on the icy road.
A black mass of rooks and jackdaws
swirls noisily overhead. Under the bridge,
the brook gurgles dark below me.
What a nice and relaxing feeling ...
