As the leaves slowly turn red, the air is cooler and the fields glisten with early morning dew, it is a sure sign that autumn has arrived. We make the most of this lovely time of year here in this beautiful mountainous region - the Dachstein Salzkammergut - and enjoy walking, mountain climbing, rock climbing or mountain biking. The high alpine mountain pastures are a popular destination too.

A visit to a mountain hut for delicious, home-cooked regional food specialities is always a real treat.

Winter vacation: Gosau

Horse-drawn Sledge Rides by Night

Discover Gosau from a new perspective. This winter, for the first time, horse-drawn sledge rides are available by night. Depart 18.00 on Tuesdays from Tourist Information in Gosau. Journey through snow-covered fields and meadows to the Kohlstatt Hut in Vordertal. Feel the cool winter air in your face, and hear the sound of the horses' hooves in the still of the night as you sit in your sleigh wrapped up in blankets. In the hut you will enjoy delicious hot snacks and warming drinks before we continue our journey back to Gosau.

Gosau Rubber Duck Race

"Fasching Sunday" is 19th February this year, and there is lots of fun to be had by all at the annual rubber duck race.

The race begins at 13.00 at the "Neuwirt" Bridge. The ducks then race along the Gosau stream. Finish line is at the "Euler" Bridge. There will be lots of other activities at "Vieh Heli".

Main prize: Wellness holiday or helicopter trip.
