Bregenz Festival 2008

In 1946 the first festival was produced on 2 gravel barges on the lake. Since then it has become a fixed point in the international festival scene.

Every year more than 200,000 people come to Lake Constance in July and August to experience the incomparable atmosphere of the open air music theatre. The breath-taking collaboration of the unique natural elements and the imposing stage, the mild summer night and the high quality opera make the evening an unforgettable experience. The festival productions begin as soon as you step onto the lake grandstand: Ships are anchored directly on the largest water stage in the world, the sun sets on the lake and the theatre on the lake can begin.
