The wine village Stratzing is located on a high plateau about 6 km north of Vienna, inmidst a wine growing area.
This area has also been a place for settlement during the time of the Old Stone Age, proved by findings at the Galgenberg.
In 1988, a 30.000 year-old woman statuette has been found here (7,2 cm small, weighing 10 g)

Local viticulture dates back to the year 1209.
These days, on an area of about 250 ha, the main grape variety Grüner Veltliner is being grown; apart from that, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Zweigelt and Blue Portuguese are planted. The main part of the grape harvest is being marketed by the local wine makers themselves.
The wines have a fine bouquet and are typical for their sort.

Wines with the etiquette "Fanny vom Galgenberg" present quality and tradition of a many centuries long lasting connection to viticulture.
