The fascinating Gassel stalactite cave was discovered in 1918 and is rated among Austria´s most beautiful caves for the wealth of colors and for its breathtaking cave formations. Specially guided tours are available: The 50 minutes tour winds through a series of rooms and passages that contain thousands of stalactites, stalagmites, ribbons and columns. Sturdy boots, good foothold and warm clothing are required.
The Gassel stalactite cave is accessible within a 2 hours´ walk from Rindbach, a village area of Ebensee. There´s a clearly marked trail winding across Rindbach Valley and passing along Rindbach Waterfall.
The adjacent shelter is open and serviced during the cave´s opening times (no overnight stays possible).
