Black gold in the glass mountain

A glass mountain in the center of Pertisau introduces locals and guests to the 100-year old tradition of Tirolean shale oil. Since 1902 the Albrecht family has been extracting the black gold from oil slate. Tirolean shale oil is a natural remedy for joint problems, blood flow irregularities and problems of the musculo-skeletal system. It revives and eases tensions before and after sports.

At the entrance of the "Martin Mine", that was named after the enterprise´s founder, visitors are welcomed with a "Glück auf". The floor inside is covered with slate stone, of which Tirolean rock oil is extracted. Special lighting causes a mystical mood. Walk-in glass show cases and images tell of the history of the shale oil as well as the history of the family.

The heart of the Vitalberg mountain is a functioning facility for smoldering stones. Visitors can experience how the liquid gold of the Achensee lake is extracted from solid rock. State-of the art equipment can be admired in the media room.

A visual and acoustic rock oil show completes the program. Shale oil products can of course be acquired.

On top of the adventure mine is a futuristic glass summit that offers a fantastic view as well as snacks.
