The magnificent Hofburg palace ranks among Vienna's most popular attractions.

The whole complex covers an area of 240,000m², and it has 18 wings with a total of 2,600 rooms, 50 staircases and 19 courtyards.

It comprises several styles of architecture, ranging from Gothic to Ringstrassen style. Until the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in 1918 this was the residence of the Habsburg family and the center of imperial tradition.
