The Leopold Museum Private Foundation was created by Professor Rudolf Leopold, the Republic of Austria and the Austrian National Bank.

The major part of the collection with more than 5,200 objects represents Austrian arts in the first half of the 20th century. It contains the world´s largest collection of paintings, water color paintings and drawings by Egon Schiele.
Apart from Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Egon Schiele - you will also find masterpieces by Richard Gerstl, Albin Egger-Lienz, Anton Faistauer, Anton Kolig, Herbert Boeckl, Hans Böhler and Alfred Kubin. The arts and crafts from the prospering period at the turn of the century are represented by works of Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, Josef Hoffmann, Kolo Moser and Dagobert Peche. Visitors will also see wonderful paintings from the 19th century by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, Anton Romako, Ferdinand Gauermann, August von Pettenkofen, Emil Jakob Schindler, Carl Schuch and Tina Blau.
