With this Card you are entitled to use the public buses in the Bregenzerwald area, the cable cars and you have free entry to our outdoor Swimming pools.

The Bregenzerwald Card is available at the local tourist offices, at the mountain railways and at the Bregenzerwald info centre in Egg.
The region's most popular festival, the Schubertiade, brings a number of great concerts to Schwarzenberg and Bezau. World-famous musicians and singers present their work on Schubert and his contemporaries.
After Tosca, Giuseppe Verdi´s legendary opera Aida will be performed on the lakeside stage in the summers of 2009 and 2010. The unhappy love story between the Ethiopian princess Aida, who was once taken to the river Nile as a slave, and the Egyptian commander Radames already captivated the audience at its first performance in 1871 in Cairo.

The "Wälderbähnle" train is in operation from June to October on all Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and on some workdays. It connects the villages of Bezau and Bersbuch and is especially popular among visitors and holiday-makers: experience steam locomotives almost a hundred years old and historic diesel locomotives which between July and December even run on certain weekdays.
Here you can find a myriad of inns that are typical of the Bregenzerwald region and that distinguish themselves through a traditional atmosphere, some of them sensitively combined with modern elements.
The cheese inns are just a stone's throw away from each other. Many cheese inns offer their delicacies in typical Bregenzerwald houses - in cozy parlors from where you can enjoy the view of the wood-shingled facades.
Eight inns and restaurants of the Bregenzerwald region have dedicated to the motto Mundart which means both "dialect" and "mouth art". All these family-run restaurants have been awarded by gourmet guides. They all distinguish themselves through their excellent cuisine and their impressive atmosphere. The Bregenzerwald region offers many long slopes for skiing, typically of easy or medium difficulty, but also some challenging runs. Plus, there is a wide range of deep-snow and touring slopes.
The Bregenzerwald region is particularly rich in snow from Mid-December until April, owing to its special location ("Nordstau").
The 3-valley ski area is a merger of the Bregenzerwald, Großwalsertal and the Lechtal valleys, resulting in a huge ski area. The new mountain railway is the connection between the existing ski areas of Damüls and Mellau. The new 8-person cable railway takes skiers and snowboarders from Mellau-Rossstelle to the Hohe Wacht top station in Damüls within no time.
Thanks to the Damüls-Mellau interconnected ski area, gorgeous north- and southfacing slopes make for eventful and varied ski days in the largest ski area of the Bregenzerwald region.

A hang glider can be taken to any mountain, and starting is easy and is possible from almost any mountain meadow. Just a few steps - and you´re up in the sky, gliding towards the valley. Today´s modern hang gliders allow for flying times of several hours and for distances of 50 kilometers and more.

Most of the hang gliders who regularly fly in the region of Bezau and Andelsbuch during summer know little about the qualities of the region as a winter resort, though. The south-facing slopes of the Winterstaude, just above Bezau, is especially attractive during winter: no obstacles, soaring fun galore! The north-facing starting places of the Andelsbucher Niedere area, with its perfect wind conditions (owing to the microclimate of the nearby Lake Constance) are easily accessible even in winter.
The major hang-gliding area in winter, however, is the Diedamskopf, which is also popular among paragliders. In summer, the Diedamskopf is a popular XC starting place for hang-gliders.
One of the most beutiful cycling paths you have ever seen. It follows the river in through the valley, through the forests, and along the foothills of the majestic Kanisfluh mountain, it crosses bridges, leads along cafés and restaurants and follows part of the old Bregenzerwald railway lines.
The number of mountain bike routes is annually increasing. The local tourist office and hosts gladly inform you about the most recommendable mountain bike routes.´
From summer 2010, the Bregenzerwald Tourismus tourist office offers a mountain biking map with the most beautiful tours in the Bregenzerwald region. The routes were elaborated and recommended by passionate mountain bikers.
Accommodation suppliers specialized on mountain biking offer packages which include all services. Information is available at the Bregenzerwald Tourismus tourist office from February 2010.
Cheese theme restaurants and traditional inns
49 Bregenzerwald inns are member businesses of CheeseRoad and thus certified "cheese places". The offer their guests cheese-related dishes all year round.
Another detail: many of the cheese inns are situated in traditional Bregenzerwald houses: With their wood-shingled, sun-darkened facades and cozy lounges with low ceilings, they provide the perfect ambiance for cozy get-togethers.

The Bregenzerwald locals love to tell tales. In a similar manner, also churches, bridges and museums give testimony of exiting events and extraordinary personalities. The Bregenzerwald traditional women´s wear is one of the few folklore dresses still in use in today´s German speaking world. The Juppe, the elegant black dress with up to 500 pleats, is especially impressive. At the Riefenberg workshop you can learn everything about the elaborate production of this fine piece of traditional clothing.
