Walking in the Wildschönau – Steps to heaven
Walking in the Wildschönau, in beautiful alpine scenery gets your heart beating faster and opens up new horizons. 300 well marked and well kept walking paths lead you to every corner of this beautiful place. Along the valley floor there is walking for enjoyment to old farmhouses where you can taste local dishes, homegrown herbs or home distilled schnaps and liqueurs. Admire the impressive bronze statues along St. Francis’ Path from Niederau to Oberau which are dedicated to the Songs of St Francis of Assisi. Higher up you can visit the high pastures and their alpine dairies where prize winning cheeses are produced throughout the summer months. On the highest ridges an unbelievable panorama opens up taking in the Inn Valley and the Kitzbühel and Ziller Alps. The high walks are made easy by the cable cars which run throughout the summer months. The Markbachjoch lift opens in May and on the mountain top there is a petting zoo and small playground as well as easy walks and more strenuous tours making it particularly popular with families.
