Winklarn

A warm welcome to Winklarn!

The charming municipality of Winklarn covers an area of 12.6 km², with 1,400 people living there. It is located south west of Amstetten, the district capital. It can be subdivided into a broader valley to the North (Ybbs field) and the high zone to the south.

In the year 1234, the first official mentinoning of the village name Winklarn took place. The settlement time, however, ranges far beyond that into pre-historic times. Findings from the stone age and of roman settlements prove this.

Winklarn is also a parish village and a so-called "original parish village" with one of the oldest regional churches. Documents of the year 850 are a prove to this fact.
