A place to fall in love with
Schoppernau offers outdoor activities in abundance, along with an unspoiled environment and crystal-clear air. Thanks to its location on the northern edge of the Alps, the Bregenzerwald area benefits from exceptional snow conditions and attracts hundreds of visitors. Schoppernau is a rural community at the foot of Diedamskopf Mountain, marked by traditional wooden farmhouses, lush mountain pastures, babbling brooks, and heartfelt hospitality. Nature exploration, mountain biking, paragliding, Nordic walking and hiking – there is something to do for everyone!
Mountains and sunshine galore!
The way-marked trails for (Nordic) walking, hiking and cycling in Schoppernau and its surroundings allow for an unparalleled mountain experience in tune with nature. Once you have reached the top of Diedamskopf Mountain, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the foothills of the Alps and as far as Lake Constance. Diedamskopf is a prime destination among paragliding and hang gliding enthusiasts, too. Tandem flights are available for those who wish to explore parts of Vorarlberg from a bird’s perspective. The local tourist board organizes guided herb walks, visits to a cheese dairy and a shingle maker’s workshop, as well as wildlife watching tours. The Bregenzerwald Card is available for stays of three or more nights. It entitles to free mountain transport and visits to public outdoor pools in the area.
A winter’s tale
The Bregenzerwald area has successfully retained its charming, rural character and promotes sustainable tourism. Schoppernau and the Diedamskopf ski area offer all the amenities and infrastructure to make a winter break worthwhile. The cutting-edge gondola lift (each cabin seats eight passengers) takes you quickly up the mountain to the most beautiful vantage point in the Bregenzerwald area at an altitude of 2,060 meters. Diedamskopf is renowned for its spectacular views and outstanding skiing until April. State-of-the-art uphill facilities offer access to pistes for people of all ages and ambitions. In addition, there are cross-country skiing tracks, a snow sports center, a ski kindergarten, winter hiking trails, natural toboggan runs, and varied terrain for freeride skiing and snowboarding. The Unterdiedams slope is not only the major attraction in the Diedamskopf ski area, but probably one of the best of its kind in the entire Province. For a more relaxed snow experience we recommend a leisurely walk or a romantic ride in a horse-drawn sleigh.
