Mountains and spas in Bad Kleinkirchheim

Welcome to the renowned holiday resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim in the Nockberge area, not far from Villach. Thanks to its location south of the main Alpine ridge Bad Kleinkirchheim is favored by some 1,900 hours of sunshine a year. The charming village is not only home to the famous ski champion Franz Klammer, but it has also gained a reputation as a major destination for walking and hiking, skiing and outstanding spa sessions since the middle of the 20th century. It is probably the harmonious blend of sports and relaxation that attracts hordes of visitors both in summer and winter. A spa session is not only a soothing treat after an active day out walking or skiing, but it also makes for a fine bad-weather option. Families have also discovered Bad Kleinkirchheim thanks to its varied offering and tourist infrastructure.
Summer holidays in the Nockberge area stand for walking (1,000 km of way-marked trails) and mountain biking (43 routes). Marvel at lush meadows, mighty mountains and thundering torrents, and do not miss out on a drink or meal at one of thef 30 mountain restaurants (try "Kasnudeln", Carinthia's traditional pasta dish!). Bad Kleinkirchheim is also proud of its 18-hole Kaiserburg golf course and the popular Römerbad and St. Kathrein spas.
Winter comes with a fair share of skiing and spa sessions. Take the Kaiserburg cable car to the highest point in the ski area (2,055 m) and enjoy stunning views of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains and hills. Bad Kleinkirchheim offers snow and sunshine in abundance! The local ski area boasts skiable terrain for beginners and advanced skiers, thus making it especially popular among families. There are three ski schools where children are introduced to skiing in a playful and relaxed way. Having spent the day out on the slopes there is nothing to beat a relaxing spa session. Evening activities include tobogganing on the illuminated Kaiserburg-Rodelbahn, which is only one out of four local tracks. Innumerable cleared walking trails make for an unparalleled winter experience off the slopes.

Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area
In the footsteps of a World Champion! With an overall length of 4.2 kilometers and a difference in altitude of 1,000 meters the K70 Franz Klammer World Cup ski run is the highlight on Kaiserburg Mountain (2,055 m). Continue via Strohsack and Maibrunn to get to the Nockalm carving slopes on the opposite side of the valley. The Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area is renowned for its 103 kilometers of wide and sunny slopes and the permanent snow cover throughout the winter season.
Bad Kleinkirchheim spas
'From the slope to the spa' - in Bad Kleinkirchheim it's not just empty talk! Thermal Römerbad, one of Carinthia's most beautiful spa centers, is located next to the Kaiserburg base station. With 12,500 square meters of spa facilities it offers outstanding water pleasures and relaxation. The second spa in town, St. Kathrein, is a bit smaller and makes a fine destination for families and health-minded visitors. Thanks to their location at the heart of the Nockberge area both spas are popular destinations both in summer and winter.
