Nestling between the River Drau in the South and the Karawanken Mountains in the North, Faak am See is one of Carinthia’s prettiest towns.

With an average of 300 sunny days per year, Faak am See is a wonderful holiday destination. In the summer Lake Faaker See is warm and pleasant for swimming. The region’s beautiful nature lends itself to lazy afternoons as well as a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages.

Recreational Opportunities Galore
Spend wonderful summer days on Lake Faaker See and indulge in a variety of aquatic activities including swimming, sailing, windsurfing and boating. The region also offers gorgeous varied hikes around the lake and into the surroundings mountains. Other popular activities include cycling and mountain biking. The castle ruins of Burgarena Finkenstein with their amazing birds of prey show make a great day trip destination for families.
The region is also popular in the winter.


The Gerlitzen ski area and the Dreiländereck offer great skiing for families, including great deals for kids and varied terrain for more advanced skiers. Gerlitzen Mountain boasts superb views of the snow-covered Klagenfurt basin.
