We invite you to improve your physical and mental well-being the natural way!

By Active Wellness we understand recreation and natural well-being on the mountains. We try to improve your health by mobilizing your inner harmony and strength with easy hikes and exercises.

Our certified wellness coaches guide you during the activity programs. The Active Wellness program is suitable for everyone regardless and FREE for Gerlos and Zell guest card holders!

Meeting place: bandstand in Gerlos (no registration required)

Meeting place for activities in Zell: at the Freizeitpark leisure center. The Tourist Office takes enrolments until 5pm on the day before!

An alternative indoor program with funny games and healthy, relaxing exercises is provided in case of bad weather.

Our Active Wellness Program provides you with instructions for exercises, relaxation methods and tips on improving your overall health.

10am: the wellness program starts with a hike to the Lackenalm pasture in the Schönachtal valley.

Relax body & mind with soft stretching exercises.

8.30pm: Wer-Wie-Was in Gerlos
Presentation (in German) of the beautiful surroundings and possibilities with pictures, films and musi.

10am: healthy hike to the Wimmertalalm pasture

4.30pm: introduction to Nordic Walking
Learn dynamic walking with special carbon poles (rental fee: EUR 1). Meeting point: bandstand in Gerlos


10am: hike to the Isskogel mountain
Ascent with the Isskogel cable car (ticket is not included). After a refreshing Kneipp cure in the lake and energizing exercises we will hike to the peak of the Isskogel mountain (2,264 m). Do not forget to bring ankle supporting shoes (hiking boots) and swimming clothes! Meeting point: bandstand in Gerlos

4.30pm: Running made easy
After a short introduction we will run 7.4 km through Gerlos. Running shoes and a good physical condition will be needed! Meeting point: bandstand in Gerlos

05.30 am: sunrise hike
Watch the sun rise behind the mountains – an experience that will create lasting memories!

10 am: Hike to Astachhof
We take the bus to the beginning of Schwarzachtal valley. From there, a hiking path leads to Astachhof via Weisbachlkurve in the direction of Böndel. After a hearty snack and some energetic exercises we will leisurly walk back to Gerlos Gmünd via Grasegg. Duration: approx. 5 hours. Walking time: 3.5 hours. Important: sturdy shoes

10 am: Nordic Walking Tour
After a short introduction we will set out for the Nordic Walking Park where entertaining games and gentle exercises await us.

8.30 pm: "ACTIVE Wellness living"
Presentation (in German) providing you with lots of tips on how to feel well and stay healthy.

10 am: wellness hike to Plattenkogel
This hike includes a visit to a creamery, relaxing exercises and stunning views. Please wear sturdy shoes!

Presentation of our adventure program.

Monday: 10 am to 3 pm "Klara, the Herbal Witch" - Witches kitchen
Klara has her witch school in Gerlos. She is happy to tell you some great recepies of hers, collect the colors of nature for witch paintings and discover many interesting things...Come and get bewitched!

Monday: from 9pm "Torchlight Hike for Families"
As soon as it gets dark in Gerlos we will light the torches and walk through the night. And don't forget to bring your parents, too! Cancelled in rain.

Tuesday: 10am - 3pm: The Tirolean Brooks
Today we will have a close look at our waterways.
Discover small animals, e. g. the amphipoda, worms ... and Charly's Water Wheel!

Wednesday: 10am - 3pm: walk on the wellness trail. walk barefoot through brooks, mud, across meadows, balance on stones, tree trunks and get a massage.

Thursday: 10am - 3pm: realm of water - Wusel Wassergeist tries to find the crystal
Together we will look for the lost crystal. It has to be somewhere in the water. It's fun to romp around in the water.

Friday: 10am - 3pm: lakeside picnic
Lake Durlaßbodensee will be our adventure playground. End-of-week BBQ. Please bring your own food!

Our adventure program is available from Mon - Fri, Jun 27 - Sep 3 and Sep 27 - Oct 8, 2010 and targets on children from 5 to 12 years.

Rafting along the torrential Gerlosbach brook. Afterwards BBQ. Afterwards you will need to be very courageous on the climbing rock. Registration required! Costs: EUR 30

Ropes Course - Gerlos Tirol

WEDNESDAY, 10am: high-ropes course - 100 % adrenaline
Experience 20 stations at the high-ropes course together with an experienced guide! Registration required! Important: bring a sturdy pair of shoes
Costs: EUR 30, meeting point: tennis hall

WEDNESDAY, 4pm: bike tour - uphill and downhill
We cycle along the high-altitude trail (60 m difference in altitude) to Gerlos-Gmünd, ride around the reservoir and cycle back to Gerlos. Important: it's obligatory to wear a helmet, bring your own bike! Meeting point: bandstand

THURSDAY, 10am: canyoning (for teens from 11 years)
cool jumps into the water. Abseiling even through a waterfall guided by a certified mountain guide. Registration required. Costs: EUR 30, meeting point: tennis hall

FRIDAY, 10am: lakeside BBQ
BBQ at the adventure playground at the Durlaßboden reservoir

The Teeny Action Program is available from Sun to Fri between June 27 and September 3, 2010 and targets on teenagers from 10 years.

Sheep shearing in Gerlos

Sheep drive and large village festival on Sep 10, 2011!

Schaflschoade Gerlos - Gerlos Tirol

Early in the morning on Sep 10, 2011 the sheep drive will start. About 250 sheep have to be taken back to the village each year. The sheep find the right way to Schönachtal nearly themselves. In the valley they are driven to one big herd. Further down the valley - in Gerlos - they are expected by many guests and the local farmers. In Gerlos starts the sheep shearing festival. The sheep are driven to the different farms and shorn there while the rest of the village starts to party. Ian Ewan, a shearing pro from Wales (GB) will shear sheep in record time.

Food and drinks are provided by Bergrettung Gerlos. They offer regional specialties. The festival will last until the evening. But is there anyone who wants to go home when there is so much music, fun etc.

Arena SKI SHOW in Gerlos

The event starts at 8 pm with DJ Albin and the ski show warm-up session!

Amazing light shows, exciting music and many varied presentations await you. There will be many great performances: torch runs, ski and flag choreographies, ski nostalgia shows and acrobatic jumps on a giant ski-jump.
Finally there is an impressive firework!

There is a special shuttle bus (Nightline) taking our guest to the ski show and back. It runs from 7 pm to 2 am daily.

"Active Mountains" - the exclusive fit and vital program in Gerlos

Active Mountain - Gerlos Tirol

"Active Mountains" is a great fit and vital program for all ages. No matter what the weather is like, this program is free for all guests of Member Hotels in Gerlos from June 26 - September 23, 2011 (always from Sunday to Friday)! "Active Mountains" offers easy tours for beginners (also Nordic Walking) and demanding tours for the physically fit. High Rope Park, canyoning, taster lessons at the climbing tower and themed hikes are offered.

Please not that you will always need hiking shoes for our tours and that you need to be fit for our high mountain tours. You may also rent hiking shoes as well as raincoats, rucksacks and poles at sports shops in Gerlos.

Hiking bus

Protect the environment and use the free hiking bus!

The hiking bus operates between Zell am Ziller, Gerlos and Königsleiten and is free for guest card holders.

This summer the hiking bus will operate until 26 October 2010 (no longer to Königsleiten).

The Zillertal Active Card is your entry ticket to the entire Zillertal valley. The card gives free use of gondolas, trains, and public busses as well as free admission to many of the valley's sights and attractions. The card is valid from May 29 - October 17, 2010.

The Card includes:
- daily 1 return ride with one of 12 gondolas / mountain lifts of your choice
- free admission to all six public swimming pools
- free use of the public transportation within the region (not included: steam train)
- free admission to the observatory in Königsleiten
- 10% discount at many partner throughout Zillertal

ARENA COASTER - the NEW tobogganing fun

The first alpine roller coaster has opened in the Zillertal valley

Finally the NEW tobogganing fun has come to the Zillertal valley. It's great fun not only for kids: expect speed and action. The rollercoaster is 1450m long and starts direclty at the base terminal of the Zillertal Arena in Zell and includes many waves, steep turns and jumps. A 360° twist and a 540° twist will further push your adrenaline levels.

Riding time: about 6 - 7 min

Via Ferrata Gerlossteinwand

The first Via Ferrata of the Zillertal valley has officially been opened

The men of Zell's mountain rescue service have worked hard to open the new Via Ferrata. More than 450 m cable rope, 300 handholds, 230 cable clamps, 150 tie bars have been used.

The Via Ferrate is another possibility for nature lovers and athletic persons of all age groups to get to know our mountains. Everyone can climb along the Via Ferrata - you only need the right equipment and you need know how to behave along the route. Throughout the Via Ferrate you are secured by a cable rope. You climb through the steep face using natural or artificial handholds and steps. Via Ferratas are very trendy in the Alps as they allow normal hikers to experience the world of vertical climbing.
