The small resort of Gries im Sellrain is located in the Sellraintal valley, 25km west of Innsbruck. The large Kühtai ski area - at 2020m above sea level Austria's highest winter sports resort - is only 20 minutes from there; Sonnenberg lifts (in Gries) and the cross-country skiing track are both lighted in the evening! Winter fun for young and old is guaranteed.

A beautiful ski mountaineering area, the Praxmar-Lüsens cross-country skiing track, a floodlit toboggan run and interesting tracks for snow shoeing are also available.

HIKING TIP: Hike to the Juifenalm (2020m)

Next to good plain cooking the Juifenalm also offers a stunning view from the Zischgeles mountian to the Freihut mountain and the Sonnberg mountain.

Starting in Gries you walk along trail no. 1 or via Narötz and trail no. 24 to Juifenau (30min, easy). From there you have to ascend along a forestry track to the Juifenalm (1.5h, easy).
