Kauns

An idyllic village at the entrance of the Kaunertal valley.

The holiday resort Kauns is ideal for skiing holidays as it's situated near many large ski areas with numerous lifts and pistes and a glacier where snow is guaranteed. A free ski bus takes you to the nearby winter hiking area Fendels. Tirol's ski dimension Ladis/Fiss/Serfaus boast many lifts and pistes. On Kaunertal glacier you can enjoy skiing all year round.

3 km east of Prutz is Kauns situated on a sunny plateau 1050 m above sea level. Thanks to its sunny location Kauns enjoys warm and pleasant climatic conditions which is the reason for calling Kauns "Tirol's second Meran".

Kauns is the starting point for many wonderful hiking tours and excursions, e. g. to Aifneralm, Aifner Spitze, Pillerhöhe, Gacher Blick, Falpaus.

Sights in Kauns

Burg Berneck castle

On a rock at the entrance of the Kaunertal valley is Burg Berneck castle situated. In summer you can take a guided tour through the castle on Fri and Sat, at 10am and 11am.
