Enjoy your holidays in Maurach at Lake Achensee!

Maurach is located in a place of outstanding natural charm, on the southern shores of Lake Achensee. It offers sports and activities in abundance, but also a fair share of recreation and relaxation. Health and well-being have always been a major issue for many hotels in the Achensee area. In winter it's all about cross-country skiing, winter walking, and skiing. Families in particular appreciate the charming Rofan ski area. In summer the Achensee area attracts people who love walking, hiking and mountain biking - thanks to its wide variety of routes and trails that suit outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and ambitions. On a hot summer's day there is nothing to beat a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear lake.
Winter in Maurach:
Lovely cross-country skiing tracks wind their ways across the vast, snow-covered meadows on the outskirts of town. The Achensee area boasts a total of 200 km of tracks, including the fabulous "Panoramaloipe " route along the lakeshores. In addition, Maurach is home to the Rofan ski area which is particularly popular among families due to its moderate size (14 km of uncrowded slopes) and special attractions and facilities for children. Rofan Mountain also offers splendid off-piste skiing options and many cozy spots where you may bask in the sun and enjoy stunning vistas. Tirolean specialties are served at the Berggasthof Rofan mountain restaurant - together with a magnificent view of Lake Achensee hidden under a thick layer of ice and snow. By the way, the picture-postcard winter wonderland makes a fine backdrop to a spa session at one of the hotels in the area.
Walking, hiking and more!
Powered by steam engines, the Achensee cog railway makes its way slowly up the mountain, taking visitors from Jenbach to Lake Achensee. The lake itself is a dorado for those who love sailing and surfing, due to favorable wind conditions. However, it is also appreciated for a refreshing swim - especially on hot summer's days. Those in need of more action and activity will rather head for the mountains. The Rofanseilbahn cable car takes you up to an altitude of more than 2,000 meters within no time at all. Once up there, you may choose from a variety of walking and hiking routes: Why not climb Rofanspitze (2,259 m) via Mauritzalm and Grubascharte? There are some 500 km of way-marked tracks and trails throughout the Achensee area, including the famous Tiroler Adlerweg route.
