The 16.5 km long Villach Alpine Road is one of the most beautiful panorama roads in the Alps and takes you to the top of Dobratsch – it was declared the first nature park in Carinthia in 2002. Enjoy splendid views of Villach and the surrounding municipalities, the Karawanken mountains and the Julian Alps from the panorama parking. The local recreation area at Dobratsch holds something for walking and hiking fans alike, it boasts a network of demanding cross-country skiing tracks and numerous walking paths for various ability levels. The Gerlitzen Alpe pasture rises right at the banks of lake Ossiacher See. The Kanzelbahn railway departs in Annenheim and takes you to 1911 meters above sea level. Wide and always perfectly groomed slopes await enthusiastic skiers from November until April. Lake Ossiacher See also attracts holiday makers with plenty of sports options. Furthermore, lake Faaker See is the most southern located bathing lake in Carinthia and only a couple of kilometers away from lake Ossiacher See. The crystal-clear and emerald water presents the region around Villach from its most beautiful side. The mild and Mediterranean climate makes for a perfect holiday!
