With an altitude of 2.075 m, the Schneeberg is the highest mountain of Lower Austria. The trains of the Schneeberg narrow gauge railway, the modern Salamander train or the traditional "Zacki" will lead you up onto the highest train station of Austria. Up on this alpine countryside, you can watch the local fauna and flora at every footstep. Various mountain huts invite you for a cosy stop and snack.
The Hohe Wand mountain, known for its beautiful vantage points and hiking possibilities, at the edge of the Vienna plain, offers a lot of fun to people looking for sports and adventure! Climbing, paragliding, dragon flying, pet zoo, sky walk - these are only some of the highlights of the leisure offer of this inviting high plateau.
Those who would like to know why the Schneeberg region is such a splendid hiking regoin are best recommended to follow the traces of Ferdinand Raimund in the Piesting valley. Cosy paths, exciting views and the Biedermeier cycling route, making its way through the lovely little valley. An excursion into the Steinwand gorge or to the Myra falls is also worth your time. The region was also home to another artist: the painter Friedrich Gauermann from Miesenbach - his beautiful landscape paintings can be seen in the local museum.
