Weyer, founded in the 12th century, has become one of the region´s most important trading towns due to its water and wood resources, looking back on a long tradition in iron processing. Among the town´s highlights ranks the outstanding market square in Baroque style. From the 14th century onwards Weyer has been Austria´s earliest center of iron industry.
