Kauns is magnificently situated

on a sunny, south-facing slope (1075 m) at the entrance to the Kauner Valley,

skip a part of the Oetztaler group of the Tirolean Alps. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the ski centres of Fendels, Fiss, Serfaus and the Kauner Valley Glacier. Fendels, for instance, is just an eight minute ride from Kauns by ski shuttle bus. Due to its mountainside location, Kauns enjoys a particularly long daily duration of sunshine and relatively few rainy days in summer.
The village is home to Berneck Castle, where images of a chivalrous past are conjured up the sight of its venerable stones. Kauns has been officially designated a Holiday Resort with Distinction by the state of Tirol.
