Richard I "Lion Heart" was the first prominent guest of Dürnstein. What the English King didn't quite enjoy is today all yours to discover: one of the most beautiful, still untouched river landscapes of Europe, embedded into the woodlands of the Waldviertel and the Dunkelsteiner woods. Here in the Wachau valley, where the sunny mild climate does not only stand for excellent wine, the family Thiery pampers their guests in the magnificent atmosphere of an ancient "Klarissen" monastery right next to the Danube river.
