The little goatherd´s name is Karl Höller. Years later he built Haus Adelheid.
A first chair-lift leads to Nazbauer (todays middle station of Flying Mozart).
In the midst of the Salzburger sportsworld Wagrain becomes the meeting point of nostalgic skiers. And the contrast to the fourth nostalgic ski-Wagrain, Sunday, March 9th 2003 could not be bigger. The event takes place at the middle station with its new gondola for 8 people. Skiers with 30ies, 40ies or 50ies outfit show the skiing skills of this time. Apart from the stress of nowadays you feel like being back in these years. The participants use wooden skis and prepare them with bee wax at the specifically for this purpose built wax station. Before they walk up to the starting point, they eat a ´Schottsoup` and talk about former times.
The race itself is a giant slalom and is hold in the categories wooden skis with and without steel edges. The time is kept with the good old stop-watch and manual timing. A jury also grades equipment and clothes. The nostalgic ski race in Wagrain is a great optic experience for the audience and therefore should not be missed.
