In the midst of the Goms valley at an altitude of 1290 meters (4230 ft) above sea level, lies Blitzingen, a village consisting of four hamlets.

Apart-hotel, holiday village and restaurant provide comfortable accommodation and excellent cuisine. On second sight, Blitzingen turns out to be a place abounding in cultural treasures. Besides numerous buildings dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, the chapels and the church are well worth visiting. The parochial church dates from 1843, and the chapel in Gadmen was built in 1808. The chapel in Wiler dates back to the 17th century, while the oldest chapel, the one in Bodmen, dates back as far as the 16th century.

The museum in the hamlet of Bodmen offers some insight into local culture and tradition. In the hamlet of Ammern, the Open-air and Arts & Crafts museum is the main attraction. As soon as the snow melts, the hikers´ and bikers´ legs get itchy... Whether high above the valley or along the young Rhone river, Blitzingen is the starting point for mountaineering tours, hiking tours, wildlife observation and biking trips. In winter, the marvelous cross-country ski runs of the Goms region are on your doorstep. Nature can also be explored on a snowshoe hike. Spring, summer, autumn or winter - Blitzingen is always worth a stay.
