Church in Zillis
During the romanic period - at the beginning of the 12th century - the construction was completely terminated and newly begun. At this time, around 1130 to 1140, the painted ceiling was created.
This work of art is actually the only onr of its kind which goes back to the romanic period, is nearly complete and is preserved without any paint covering it. It ought to be the only church ceiling of its kind in the whole world. Most ceilings are made of fir wood and were first ground with a thin layer of plaster, painted and only then fixed to the ceiling.
