More Information - Goms

You don't like running in circles? Then cross-country skiing in the Goms is just right for you!

If you feel like it, you can go in the same direction for up to 25km. More than 100km of pistes are prepared every morning, right through the villages of the Goms, along the frozen Rhône, through snow-covered larch forests. Sports enthusiasts and ski hikers will enjoy cross-country skiing at its best on the sun trail, world-cup trail, forest trail, floodlit night trail and the many other tracks.

A special feature of the Goms cross-country trail is the fact that it leads along the twelve villages. Every village provides direct access to the track and is also a stop on the route of the Matterhorn Gotthard railway. If you feel tired after a day on skis, simply wait for the next train, sit down and go back to your point of departure.

You like being the first to sweep down the pistes? Untouched nature, wonderful powder snow or corn snow, that is what free riding is like in Goms.

Of course you can take one of the railways to reach the numerous free-riding bases. You might as well experience nature yourself, climb the mountains on mountaineering skis and reward yourself with a breathtaking downhill run. But be careful: Don't forget the mountain guide and respect nature. Not every slope tolerates high spirits, and not every forest is a free-riding area.

Welcome to the valley of reason!

You think that culture belongs to cities?

The Goms will disabuse you of that notion.

Church

We cannot boast large operas and world theaters but in summer you will meet some of the world's best classic musicians in the musical village of Ernen. Admire magnificent organs made by some of the greatest organ builders. Some 80 churches and chapels from Gothic to Baroque style feature precious art treasures. Be captivated by the architecture of the ancient wooden houses in the villages and hamlets that have preserved their traditional style. Traditions are more than mere demonstrations for tourists; they express the identity of the local population.

Welcome to the valley of authenticity!

Noise and laughter are part of a holiday. In Goms children can play to their hearts' content.

Family Goms

Instead of Disneyland and Playstation your little ones will discover brooks and forests. Instead of TV and DVD they will get to know the treasures of nature and play with petting animals. Exchange adult stress for day dreams without worries. Dull children's rooms will be replaced by straw, Alpine pasture huts and a Tipi. Instead of suppressing children's fantasies we make them come true!

Fiesch, Bellwald and Ernen have obtained the seal 'Families welcome', awarding them for their child and family friendliness.

Welcome to the valley of sparkling children's eyes

Would you also like to find a crystal?
In the Binn valley the mountains reveal their secrets.

You have already seen every spot of nature? We don't believe you before you haven't gone to the Binn valley. No noisy mountain-pass roads or railways break the silence. Go on foot or by bike - these are the only ways to get forward that make sense. It is not surprising that this area is protected by conservation laws. Those who give in to the powerful impressions of nature will find acres of untouched mountain scenery. This is when the mountains reveal their secrets: a variety of rock crystals that can be found nowhere else in the world.

The municipalities of Binn, Ernen and Grengiols strive to preserve their unique cultural and natural heritage and use it in a sustainable way. They are currently setting up the Binntal nature reserve and developing new, innovative products and services.

Welcome to the heart of the crystal world!
