The village of Kochel am See has 4500 inhabitants and is in the south-western part of the Bad Tölz area. The picturesque village with its charming hamelts is at an altitue of 605m and still has a rural character. The Heimattag day on August 15 is a highlight of the summer season.
Kochel is famous because of Balthasar Mayer, a blacksmith, who got killed in the Sendlinger battle in 1705 and became a symbol for love for ones home country.
