Brixen/Bressanone

Brixen, the medieval diocesan town

At the point where the Eisack and the Rienz converge, lies the town of Brixen, more than 1000 years old, with its panoply of ancient lanes and houses, arcade walkways and bridges. There are also churches, the cathedral, the cloister, with its unique Gothic frescos and the former seat of the prince bishops, the Hofburg, now the Diocesan and Nativity Museum. Living history wherever you go. The Old Town is dotted with parks and has a network of avenues, both of which invite you to relax, linger and shop. In the surrounding area the architecture of the landscape is determined by vineyards and fruit orchards which in autumn are covered with a variety of fruits. Brixen is very fond of its visitors ...

... and its inhabitants. There is always something happening, cultural and other diversions are always on offer, from the festival in the Old Town to the many concerts to the exclusive cabaret performances in the Kellertheather.

... and with every new page, the tension grows. The narrow street has to tell just as much as the big place or the tree in front of the gate. You feel like an insider, you live with the city, you get to know it and you wonder how much you have missed so far. Brixen is not just any city, it is a surprise, you only have to look and listen accurately and adapt the own pulse-beat, to the rhythm of the city ...
